About Hearth & Home Post
A small Canadian publishing service built for care homes that want a real weekly newspaper, not a printout.
Every Friday we ship twenty printed copies of your regional edition to your facility. Each issue is eight pages of large-print stories, local history, puzzles, and gentle conversation starters. Staff hand them out. No printing, collating, or stapling required.
Written for Western Canada
We publish three regional editions, each written in the voice of the place your residents remember:
- Prairie Weekly for Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba
- Coastal Weekly for British Columbia and the Pacific coast
- Interior Weekly for the Okanagan, Kootenays, and southern interior
Stories draw on real regional history from the 1950s through the 1970s. Content is dignified, warm, and written at a comfortable reading level for older eyes.
Built for care home routines
Recreation staff use our puzzles and reminiscence prompts in group sessions. Nurses and care aides hand out copies at meals or after activities. Families notice when residents have something fresh to talk about.

Who makes this
Hearth & Home Post is made by a husband-and-wife team in High River, Alberta.
Melisa Crandlemire is a former Registered Nurse. She graduated from UBC with a BScN with Honors in 2008 and practiced at Vancouver General Hospital in bone-marrow transplant and leukemia care, working daily with seriously ill patients and their families. She reviews every issue before it ships: for dignity, for reading comfort, and for suitability for residents living with dementia. She is also a practicing artist and a mother of four, and it shows in the paper: warm, unhurried, and made to be held.
John Crandlemire handles the writing desk, printing, and shipping, so every Friday's edition arrives assembled and ready to hand out.
